What the treatment addresses
IPL helps even out skin tone by reducing specific pigmentary and vascular changes. It is important to identify the cause of skin changes before treatment.
Sun-induced pigmentation spots
Light treatment reduces the visibility of pigmentation.
Dilated superficial vessels
Light acting on haemoglobin helps make vessels less visible.
Persistent redness
IPL may reduce redness associated with the vascular manifestations of rosacea.
How the treatment works
Consultation
Assessment of the skin and medications taken. A test treatment is performed if necessary. Expected reactions are explained.
Preparation
Cleansing the skin and providing eye protection for the patient and practitioner.
Light treatment
Selected areas are treated according to the device protocol. Warmth and tingling may be felt.
Finishing care
A soothing mask and sunscreen are applied, followed by advice on further skincare.
Individually selected care
Suitable skin types
- Normal
- Dry
- Combination
- Oily
Skin phototype, tanning and the type of pigmentation are decisive. Darker phototypes require a particularly cautious approach.
Before your treatment
Contraindications
- A recent tan or sunburn.
- Suspicious or unassessed pigmented lesions.
- Active infection, herpes or open wounds in the treatment area.
- Significant irritation or a flare-up of a skin condition.
- Photosensitivity and use of medications that increase it require medical assessment.
Medications and recent treatments must be disclosed in advance. IPL for melasma is considered separately: pigmentation may worsen or recur, so melasma should not be described as ordinary sun spots. Eye protection is essential. Redness and swelling may occur after treatment.
